    Google G1 Phone + unlocked + Fido - Canada

Got my G1 in the US last week.

    Unlocked via these guys: www.unlock-tmobileg1.com

Working on the Fido network in Canada, but only on the 2G network.

OTA updates - I got the RC29 Android update OTA to my surprise!

    Lovin it!

What's the data plan you got with FIDO? Is all data working even MMS?

I got one of those flex plans - $30 ontop of voice.
Used under 2gig last month, will roll over to the next level if I go over the data allowed on the $30.
Got a few 100 fido dollars to burn over the next year!

    Hi.
I have G1 working on Fido as well.
I am seeing roaming sign with my signal bar. Is this normal?
    and wha'ts your network setting?
It seems that I can't use the data connection if I don't check off theData roaming option.
do you also need to always check off 'use only 2G networks'?
finally, we don't have access to those paid apps on unlocked g1, right?
do you knowif there's any way around?

I'm trying to figure out how to buy one. Did you buy it from the states and if so, how?

    Thanks a mill

    hey so
    - do you pay extra because of the roaming? (i plan to use the internet A LOT)
    - is your reception and your signal good?

@dave - correct roaming is always on - its just some indicator, but you get billed normally - found some reference elsewhere about why it does it, something tech reason. Not sure about the paid apps!

@Adrian - I bought mine from a T-Mobile store in San Fran - just walked in and wanted to buy the phone without a plan.

@Confused - I don't pay extra - the roaming indicator is some glitch that happens on unlocked phones. Only roam when actually outside of my local area. Reception is great.

I guess most of you will have noticed that the G1, hopefully a tweaked version that has the correct radio for Rogers/Fido 3G is coming out next month - will post!
